Hike, bike, raft and swim your way through the region’s stunning nature trails and spend an unforgettable summer in the rural heart of Switzerland. Where mornings are spent in rock climbing reverie, mountain biking bliss and walking wonderment and afternoons are spent seeking out glacial waterfalls, swimming in fresh water lakes and exploring the Alps, you’ll get your fix of outdoor activity and then some. When the sun goes down, join Scout groups from all over the world at the International Campfire and lap up the KISC camp life! As the home of adventure and international friendship, it’s no wonder Scout groups return year after year.

    KISC offers over 130 varied activities, so your group will be active and entertained from morning to night!

    The programme is based around the themes of International Friendship, High Adventure and Eco Programme. Here’s a small sample of activities available:

  • Sample Itinerary

    Day 1

    The adventure begins as you set off for your Swiss adventure on an overnight coach journey to KISC.

    Day 2

    Say hello to Switzerland! You’ll meet your Venture Abroad representative who will give you a tour of the site so you can begin to get your bearings and start exploring the surrounding area.

    Day 3

    Tie up your hiking boots and set off on a 3 hour hike up 1,800m to the Alpine Cheesery where you’ll be rewarded with samples of traditionally made Swiss cheese when you reach the summit! Descend back down to camp and spend the afternoon abseiling the rock ledges before following the light trail around the grounds once nightfall comes.

    Day 4

    Start the day with a gondola ride from Kandersteg village to the stunning Lake Oeschinensee where you can swim in the shadows of the mighty mountains. In the afternoon, explore Kandersteg by mountain bike or attempt to beat the crate stacking record at camp! End the day under starlit skies, enjoying an evening of food and music with Scouts and Explorers from around the world!

    Day 5

    Today, you’ll reach new heights on a trip to Jungfraujoch via the highest mountain railway in Europe! Admire stunning views from the summit and take plenty of pics before heading back down to ground level. Spend the afternoon hiking the Eiger Trail – a fantastic alpine adventure for your group!

    Day 6

    Travel to the town of Adelboden for a morning hike (or cable car ride!) to the stunning Engstligen Falls. In the afternoon, visit the Cholerenschlucht Gorge and watch as the waterfall crashes down the 100m long rock gorge. Head back to KISC for a chilled evening by the campfire.

    Day 7

    Explore more of the stunning Swiss scenery with a trip to the mighty Trümmelbach Falls. Stand behind the thundering glacier waterfalls and admire this beautiful natural wonder (don’t forget your raincoat!). Spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful town of Interlaken and have a go on the thrilling summer toboggan run!

    Day 8

    Set off on a full day of hiking, exploring the beautiful region of the Kander Valley. With maps in hand, your group can navigate your way through the valley or, if you fancy a trying something a little bit different, you can be accompanied by a guide who will introduce you to glacier walking! Once back at KISC, the International Campfire is the perfect way to end your Swiss adventure!

    Days 9 and 10

    Pack up, load up and set off on your return coach journey to the UK.

    Welcoming over 12,000 Scouts from across the world every year, there’s no better place to make international friendships. After an evening at the International Campfire, your group can head back to your exclusive Venture Abroad campsite which will be your happy home for 7 nights! With tents up and ready for your arrival and catering equipment provided for you, it couldn’t be easier to camp at KISC! Indoor accommodation is available at a supplement.
