Trefoil Guild National Annual Meeting 2018, Birmingham

Prices are per paying passenger and based on 2 people sharing a twin room and a minimum of 30 paying passengers. Single rooms are available upon request and for a supplement.
Friday 15th – Monday 18th June 2018
The 2018 Trefoil Guild Annual Meeting will be held in the vibrant city of Birmingham. We are offering a three-night weekend break at a choice of quality hotels located in and around Birmingham, enabling you to make the most of the Annual meeting with evening entertainment and local excursions. With our Venture Abroad representatives on hand throughout the weekend, you are free to enjoy your time with old friends and new without worrying about the logistics!
Home to winding canals, 18th century architecture, vibrant cafes, restaurants and great shopping, Birmingham is an ideal location for the 2018 Annual Meeting. Explore the city by canal boat before strolling through the bustling streets and stopping off at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

Itinerary
Friday 15th June 2018
If you’re travelling to Birmingham by train, a Venture Abroad representative will meet you at the station and you will then be taken to your hotel on one of our coach transfers. You will then check into your hotel, where the Venture Abroad representatives will be based throughout the weekend to ensure your stay runs as smoothly as possible. Your evening meal is included is included in the package price.
Saturday 16th June 2018
Spend a morning at leisure exploring Birmingham city centre or book onto the ‘Birmingham Back to Backs’ guided tour (see excursions for details), before the Annual Meeting begins in the afternoon at The Symphony Hall. Some of the city centre hotels are within walking distance to the venue and Venture Abroad will arrange transport to and from those hotels that are not. After the meeting, you will return to your hotel for an evening meal.
Sunday 17th June 2018
On Sunday, there will be a range of optional day excursions that you can book onto prior to the Annual Meeting Weekend. These excursions will give you the opportunity to discover the history of Birmingham and enjoy some of the most beautiful points of interest in and around the city. To round off the weekend, why not join your fellow Trefoil Guild friends for an evening of entertainment organised by the Venture Abroad team?
Monday 18th June 2018
Today, we say goodbye to Birmingham and you can either join the coach departing for our post-tour to The Peak District or return home.
Possible Day Excursions
Birmingham Back to Backs, Birmingham City Centre
Step back in time and journey from the 1840s through to the 1970s on a guided tour of Birmingham’s restored 19th century courtyard of working people’s houses. Enjoy a glimpse into the ordinary lives of the former residents who lived and worked here and helped make Birmingham what it is today.

Moseley Old Hall, Staffordshire
Visit the famous site where King Charles II hid from Cromwell’s troops after he fled the Battle of Worcester in 1651. See the bed on which the King slept and the priest hole in which he hid and hear fascinating stories about 17th century life from tour guides and costume interpreters. After exploring the Moseley Old Hall, relax in the tea room or take a walk in the beautiful grounds and the fruit orchard.

Accessibility
Accessible toilet and level entrance to building with alternative accessible entrance. Narrow doorways in ground floor, mainly stairs with handrail to other floors. The grounds are partly accessible with some steps and grass paths.
Winterbourne House and Garden, Edgbaston
Escape the modern world and stroll through period rooms filled with antiques and Edwardian era soft furnishings. Learn about the families that lived here and how Winterbourne came to be part of the University of Birmingham before relaxing in the traditional tea room. Find yourself in a 7 acre oasis, just minutes from Birmingham city centre and home to over 6,000 different plant species.

Accessibility
Lift to first floor of the house. Due to narrow doors, we recommend larger sized wheelchair users check detailed access statement for property. Garden paths are wheelchair friendly, but there are uneven areas across the whole site and full access to all areas in the garden is not possible for wheelchair users. Two mobility scooters and one manual wheelchair available to use – first come first served.
Black Country Living Museum, Dudley
The Black Country Living Museum is one of the largest open-air museums in the UK, uniquely placed to tell the story of the creation of the world’s first industrial landscape. Enjoy a fascinating insight into 200 years of history as you walk through the village streets, visit period shops and chat with the costumed characters to find out about the lives of the people who once lived here.

Accessibility
Access is available to the majority of buildings. However, as they are authentic historic exhibits, many require the use of temporary, portable ramps. Museum owns an accessibility vehicle with a tail lift.

Cobden Hotel, £250

Cobden Hotel is set in attractive gardens in Edgbaston, just two miles from Birmingham city centre and approximately a 10-minute drive to the Symphony Hall, where the Annual Meeting will be held. Its modern rooms each feature a TV, tea/coffee-making facilities and a bathroom with a hairdryer. The hotel also benefits from an on-site leisure club with swimming pool, spa, hot tub, steam room and sauna. There is also a free car park at the hotel.
