How could your trip to Iceland look?

It’s important to remember that all our itineraries are tailor-made. There’s no fixed itinerary, every trip is different, however we know it’s helpful to see how your time away could look, so here’s a sample itinerary to get the ideas flowing.

Day 1

Depart the UK by flight and arrive at Keflavik Airport, from where you’ll get your first glimpse of Iceland’s fantastic landscapes as you travel Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre. Settle in and check out the on-site activities and facilities.

Day 2

It’s time to embark on the famous Golden Circle Tour, where you’ll visit three of Iceland’s most iconic sights. Watch Strokkur Geyser erupt, see the plummeting waters of Gullfoss and discover the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge at Thingvellir National Park, before stopping off at the Secret Lagoon. Iceland at it’s finest!

Day 3

Get the hiking boots on and set off on-foot exploring the amazing scenery around the centre. Spend the afternoon enjoying the on-site activities and facilities.

Day 4

Then hike across a glacier! An expert guide will take you up close to the white and blue iced rivers, point out the fascinating ice features and let you drink glacial water

Day 5

It’s time to take to the water as you embark on an Island Paddle Tour. Once back on dry land, warm up around the campfire at Úlfljótsvatn.

Day 6

Leave the centre behind and head to the city. Spend the day exploring the sights of Reykjavik, including its museums and art galleries.

Day 7

Board the boat for a whale watching excursion, before enjoying your last afternoon in Reykjavik which is the perfect opportunity to pick up some Icelandic souvenirs.

Day 8

It’s time to head to the airport for your flight home.

This is now the third time I have used Venture Abroad, we visited Kandersteg in 2016 and Iceland in 2023. Venture Abroad are great to deal with, nothing is too much trouble and her expert help and advice is much valued. I would never consider an international trip without Venture Abroad.
