Close-to-home adventure for younger groups!
If you’re looking for a close-to-home European destination to give your Cubs, Scouts, Brownies or Guides their first taste of international travel, then look no further than the beautiful Opal Coast in Northern France.
With great excursions and activities all within an hour’s drive, it’s a fantastic option for a long weekend or short trip. Try your hand at beach sand yachting, learn to bake like the French at a local bakery and take a trip to the Sealife Centre or Chocolate Factory. And if that’s not enough to tempt you, then there are also plenty of beautiful French towns to explore as well as the option of a day trip across the border to nearby Bruges.
When you choose Venture Abroad and our activity holidays for youth groups, you choose to take all the hassle out of it. Our experts will help you narrow down the amazing choice of activities and plan your very own tailored itinerary. Your trip, your way!

Great accommodation, fantastic facilities!
Set in the heart of the Regional Nature Park des Caps et Marais d’Opale, just a short drive from the seaside town of Boulogne-Sur-Mer, Le Cap d’Opale is a fantastic option for groups visiting the Opal Coast. As well as the comfortable group rooms, several dining areas and games areas including table tennis and billiards, the accommodation boasts a children’s playground and basketball and volleyball courts – something to keep the group entertained right through the evening. And as if that wasn’t enough, the accommodation centre has an indoor swimming pool too! We really have found a gem with this property!

How could your trip to the Opal Coast look?
It’s important to remember that all of our itineraries are tailor-made. There’s no fixed itinerary, every activity holiday is different. That said, we know it’s helpful to see how your time away could look, so here’s a sample itinerary to get the ideas flowing.
Day 1
Depart the UK by coach and arrive on the Opal Coast in the afternoon. Settle in and enjoy an evening getting to know your surroundings.
Day 2
With Belgium’s border just a short drive away, you’ll head for the city of Bruges, where you can enjoy a canal cruise, souvenir shopping and a visit to Choco-Story.
Day 3
It’s time to hit the beach for a morning of sand yachting. In the afternoon, head to Le Touquet for lunch on the beach.
Day 4
Today it’s homeward bound. But not before a stop in the town of St Omer.
