About Lewis Phillips

Lewis Phillips

Hi, I’m Lewis. I love being outdoors and getting stuck into new challenges - trekking and cycling are a couple of my favourite things to do! Whenever I’m active, there are always opportunities to meet new and interesting people and to see amazing things. I love to push myself and really enjoy working in groups and overcoming challenges.

Summer times.

23 Aug 17

An amazing start for the Aspley Guise and St Margarets Scouts, the weather has been astounding!

No time was wasted at KISC as both groups made the most of the blue skies. Summer tobogganing and paddling in Oeschinensee was first on the list.

Canyoning at Interaken and rafting on the Simme River have been highlights for the Scouts so far, let’s see how they get on in their hut hikes around Kandersteg.

High Adventure with 23rd Poplar

19 Aug 17

A sandwich of activities this week with the 23rd Poplar Scouts.  An incredible afternoon swinging through the trees and abseiling at Adelboden Adventure Park was a rush and challenge for everyone!

On the ‘calmer’ days, the group took part in many on site activities at KISC including The Spirit of Scouting and international games.

Making new friends on the Cheesery hike was easy for some members. A challenging walk in the beautiful Swiss Alps offered some incredible views.

The week finished with a delicious and deserved pizza night before enjoying the International Campfire!!

A massive thanks to 23rd Poplar, an amazing team of people, I hope you had as much fun as I did. See you next time.

New Mountain Experiences.

14 Aug 17

Many first times for 23rd today, taking a cable car up to an alpine lake and summer tobogganing in the beautiful sunshine, surrounded by glacier filled mountains.

Hiking back to Kandersteg offered some breathtaking views!

Beautiful sunshine greeted everyone on their arrival, the first day was spent taking part in activities around KISC getting to know groups from around the globe, topped off with a delicious BBQ!

A lovely couple of days, and many more to come.

A Damp but Good Week.

12 Aug 17

So we wave goodbye to another group staying with us on the Roverglande campsite. A fantastic week was had by all despite the trying elements.

Earning their badges at KISC, everyone took part in the International Friendship Trail, going on guided hut hikes and swimming in Lake Oeschinensee (even in the rain!)

With a couple of new members being invested into the group in such a special place was brilliant to see, with the trip topped off with a fantastic International Campfire.

Adventures with 1st Gobowen Scouts

8 Aug 17

Starting with Flag brake and Sunday morning meet up on the playing field on the main Kandersteg campground, the 1st Gobowen Scouts immediately made new friends, visiting groups from Portugal, Spain and Israel later that day.

12 of the group took on the climbing at Winteregg the next morning after a short ride in the Sunnbiel cable car.  The weather was perfect for climbing with a nice cool temperature and clear skies.

One of the Scouts taught the group how to do figure of eight knots to use when on the walls. Everyone did really well, travelling home happy and tired.

Later that evening we all sampled foods from other Scout groups who have traveled across the world to visit KISC.

The evening ended with a big dance before everyone dispersed back to their campfires.

1st Week on the Campsite at KISC

8 Aug 17

As our first mega busy week comes to a close, we can only look back on the adventures our groups had.

The earlier part of the week boasted some extreme weather, but nothing stopped the busy programs!

White water rafting was one of everyone’s favourites, but activities included hut hikes, chocolate and cheesery tours, swimming and tobogganing!

As the week progressed it got nicer and nicer, a lovely week finished off with an almighty campfire. With about 1500 scouts attending, not all groups could perform to their audience, but a lot of fun was had by all.

A great goodbye to 150th Wadsley Scouts, Chingford ESU and Larrikin ESU.  I hope to see you all again!
