Tuesday: Our very friendly and helpful Swiss coach driver picked us up to take us to the Truemmelbach falls and the town of Interlaken. The sun was shining and the journey was very scenic; down the valley, along the very blue Lake Thun and halfway up the valley towards the high Jungfraujoch. It was perfect conditions: heavy rain the day before and a glorious sunny day out. The falls are inside the mountain and are very dramatic. Definitely worth a visit. The afternoon saw us map reading our way round the old area of Interlaken and beside the River Aare. After a picnic in a park and being photographed over a hedge by Japanese tourists, the chocolate show at Schuh was calling! After an explanation about cocoa harvesting and chocolate producing, we got to the serious stuff:tasting! It didn’t end there – afterwards we got to go to the shop and use a 8 Franc voucher towards purchases. Everyone was happy and there were items to suit different purse sizes. We watched the paragliders land in the park whilst the leaders had a well earned quick tea/coffee stop. More retail therapy and then back to the Scout Centre on the coach.
After a yummy dinner of lasagne, the Scouts headed out to Bat watch. They were extremely successful in their quest with the Bat detector. Several Pipistrelles were detected. According to Michael, Campsite 59 is the hot spot… They claim to have also found: BATtered Sausage, BATtering ram, BATtery hen, BAT and ball, BATtenberg…..
