Ok, day 3 and it would seem we are all firmly settling into the swing of things. We’re all getting to know each other on first name terms and the mischievous side of these ladies is really becoming quite infectious! Dare I say it – more apparent as well!
Today we had coaches departing to visit a number of excursions, with my coach of 50 heading to the Giants Causeway. What would it be like to walk in the footsteps of giants?
We were all feeling quite optimistic about the weather with one half of the sky dull and the other half bright – our fab driver quite confidently assured us we were heading towards the brighter half! After yesterday’s sleet, wind and rain this report came as most welcome news…
A smooth journey had, we were all quick to depart the coach to collect our electronic guide devices.
I cannot describe the scale and beauty of this site. At every stage of our journey you couldn’t help but stop to marvel at the views and of course pose for numerous pictures against what was a most magnificent backdrop. We quickly came to a common agreement that you tended to look better in photos when the backdrop was as good as this!
Once down at the stones the evidence of the mischievous side of my ladies became more evident! All of a sudden there were whistles being blown. Now bearing in mind I had seen children misbehaving, venturing too far over the rock formations earlier, I instantly thought the shrill whistles of the safety marshals were perhaps being aimed in their direction!
Not so…the adventurous side of ladies who have spent many years in guiding and now the Trefoil Guild was in full flow. Climbing too high, sailing too close to the water. Come what may these ladies were determined to totally immerse themselves in the entire geographical experience! Yes – those whistles were for you! Chuckles all round, the walk back up hill conquered, lunch ate, a quick face painting session had and we were back on our coach accompanied by a guide who would impart yet more fascinating history.
Before dropping back at hotels we enjoyed a quick photo stop at Gortmore – a great opportunity for a group photo as they scaled the edge of the cliffs. Just imagine my nerves after our earlier display!
We all enjoyed a wonderful day out together, with the weather making it even more so.
It is a day I am quite sure we will all remember. The right recipe: great company, good weather and wonderful places.
Next stop a night of Irish entertainment with the Venture Abroad team.
