Wreath Layers at Ypres - 23rd Croydon
Wreath Layers at Ypres – 23rd Croydon

We had a few technical difficulties from De Kluis last week, but here is an update from what the groups got up to at the end of the week.

On Wednesday, 3rd Newbury did the Adventure Ropes course and they absolutely loved it! Meanwhile, 23rd Croydon went to Ypres where they enjoyed their day exploring the Battlefields. This week, we were even luckier, as those who were not Wreath Layers got to stand as a guard of honour to the Wreath Layers so everyone was really involved in the special ceremony.

On Thursday, both groups had a day onsite, 3rd Newbury, carried out some site service, litter picking and moving some fire drums back to where they are stored. 23rd Croydon carried out a very difficult scavenger hunt, including trying to find a candle and various other objects which are not easily found in a forest!

On Friday, I accompanied 3rd Newbury to Leuven, where we went swimming, the Scouts loved the inflatable in the swimming pool! Whilst we were in Leuven, 23rd Croydon made their way to Waterloo, to the memorials, which they thoroughly enjoyed although it was a long day!

I am now home from Belgium, but I will be posting my final blog tomorrow to sum up one awesome summer!
