Today the Seer Green Scouts are making the trip to the Jungfraujoch, the highest train station in Europe sitting on the ridge between the Jungfrau and the Monch at 11300 feet. The scenery is just spectacular with the whole of the Bernese-Oberland in view and the plateau is surrounded by Glacier’s beneath it and right the way up to the peak of the Jungfrau. After getting the train up to the top and spending time on the Glacier and in the Ice tunnels they’ll then get the train back down to Kleine-Scheidegg before walking down the Eiger-trail to Grindlewald with the North face of the Eiger towering over them in what is a stunning hike.
The group have had a packed week having been hiking and climbing on Tuesday and Wednesday including the climbing course at Winteregg, at the summit of the Sunnbuel cable-car. Yesterday they had a relaxing day at the Solar-heated (basically means it’s outside!) swimming pool in Kandersteg village in the bright sunshine making the most of the diving-boards and the slack-line which a lot of the kids absolutely loved – just a shame they didn’t have the slack-line up across the pool like they do occasionally!
It makes me really pleased to see the smiles on the scouts faces and you can really tell that they‘ve had an absolutely fantastic week here in Kandersteg and I’m sure it won’t be too long till they return again!!
