Scout in Kandersteg

With the sun shining in Kandersteg, new groups have arrived and were straight down to bathing in the sunshine, having relaxing afternoons and venturing for a dip in the pool! Here’s Simon from 1st London Colney Scout’s account of their first two days on camp:

Having left London Colney ahead of schedule we arrived at Kings Cross in plenty of time to collect Kirstie, Nicole and Tank. Whilst waiting for the Guides to show up, some of the leaders spotted a Costa Coffee and decided a last minute caffeine shot was in order. The Guides from York arrived on time and we left for the journey through south east sure with activities including Rafting, Day trips to Bern and the Jungfrau, plenty of onsite activities and Overnight hikes ine the mountains around Kandersteg!London to Dover. After a short stop at the services we arrived in Dover an hour early and so crossed the water into France. From Calais we drove to Belgium, Luxemburg, France (again) and finally at 06:00 crossed the border in to Switzerland. We stopped at about 07:00 for breakfast and change of driver before leaving at 8:30 for the final push to Kandersteg.

So we arrived at KISC about 10:00 after the comparative short trip from the breakfast stop. We managed to get two trolleys to take the baggage up to the camp site and the Scouts soon made themselves at home. After a spot of lunch and a bit more rest we went off to World Scouting Workshop which was one part of our challenge badge.

In the evening, Kieran and Alfie made the chicken curry and there were no left over’s followed by millionaires shortbread provided by George’s Mum (BIG THANK YOU). Now for the most shocking news ALL THE SCOUTS HAD A SHOWER.

A thrilling week ahead I’m
