The hills are indeed alive with the sound of music, and scouts, and a whole host of other interesting alpine noises. After what seemed like a relatively easy journey, taking in some of the most spectacular views and some very hairy roadside drops, I arrived at KISC and met up with the VA rep, Chris.

From here on in, it has been following the script of exploring my new surroundings, meeting leaders, trips to the swimming pool and camp site orientation.

It seems that you can get all four seasons in one day at Kandersteg – one minute it’s boiling hot in the baking sun, the next the snow reveals itself on the top of a mountain and it’s jackets back on. It has, however, been a massively enjoyable first day. I just have time to grab some dinner before venturing to meet Chris and see the groups I will be joining for tomorrow’s adventure…
