The Berner Oberland is a stunning canton of Switzerland, full of amazing views. Here are some of our favourites, taken during our season here this summer.
– The panorama from the top of Niesen mountain, accessible by a 30-minute funicular ride (or a 5 hour hike up!). This view quite literally took our breaths away – you can see all the way to Interlaken, Thun, Adelboden and Kandersteg, as well as the peaks of the Eiger, Munsch and Jungfrau on a clear day!
- The views from Our Chalet and its environs!
– The views from the Jungfrau, and from the train journeys on the way up to it!
- The view of Niesen across Spiez harbour
– Looking up to Engstligen from Boden during the alpine glow at sunset
– Oberhofen Castle – a view fit for a fairy-tale princess
– The town of Thun – certainly picturesque!
– The view all the way down to Adelboden and of a glorious alpine plateau from Engstligen (where you might even spot a marmot if you’re lucky!
– Looking down into Kandersteg whilst suspended from the Oeschinensee cable car (and Oeschinensee itself!)
– The view from Frutigen train station – how many railway hubs have a mountainous backdrop as gorgeous as this?
