Our first full day here in this special Scouting place and the sun was shining!
The early morning clouds lifted and we could look up to see one of our destinations – the mountains towards Oeschinensee (the lake above the village). But first we had an important Scout meet: International Flagbreak, together with Scouts from around the world including: Brazil, Sweden, Ghana, Australia, Canada, Mexico and Germany.
Next, it was off on the bus to the village with Lewis, our VA rep, to take the Gondola up to the toboggan run. Some Leighton Buzzard Scouters (10 miles from our hometown) happened to be on the bus too! Everyone was looking forward to the toboggan run but with nervous anticipation too! By everyone’s second run, we were very confident and buoyed up for our short hike down to the lake for lunch, picking our way through the cows (with bells). The views are stunning and the lake is glacially cold (though most dipped their toes in)! After hiking down from the lake to the village, we got wet at the village outdoor pool. Some of us were very artistic with our diving efforts from the 3m board, some of us were less so…
Now, we have finished the evening at the KISC BBQ, meeting more and dancing with Scouts from around the world.
