Three Towns Unit leader, Alastair Dodds, submitted his story shortly after returning from an action-packed expedition to Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland. We spoke to Mr Dodds after catching wind of the article to find out more about the group’s experience.
Captured by the stunning scenery of this part of Switzerland and amazed by the range of activities available at KISC, Mr Dodds said that for some of Three Towns Unit, this was ‘a one-off experience that they will never forget’. The highlight of the trip for the Explorer group was, according to Mr Dodds, the pleasure of ‘meeting fellow Scouts from all over the world’. Providing the ultimate international Scouting experience, KISC welcomes more than 12,000 Scouts and Guides from across the world every year which creates ample opportunity for international friendships to be formed (as Three Towns Unit soon discovered!). Having befriended a Scout group from Dublin whilst at KISC, Mr Dodds and The Three Towns Unit were delighted to receive an invitation to visit their new friends and are currently planning their expedition to Ireland! When asked if he would recommend KISC for meeting new Scout groups, Mr Dodds said: ’Why wait for an international jamboree every four years when KISC is always available?’
With a word of thanks to Venture Abroad, Mr Dodds gave a special shout-out to Tour Co-ordinator, Katie Farrell, for ‘ensuring all aspects were covered and that we had a great time with nothing to worry about’. Thanks to Alastair Dodds for your kind words; we’re thrilled you and The Three Towns Unit had such a rewarding expedition!
