Ferndown district guides kicked off their week with a bless fully dry morning session of high ropes. Everyone gave this a go and those who were initially unsure came off with a great sense of achievement. Unfortunately after that the heavens opened so the planned wide games didn’t happen but many many friendship bracelets were made and everyone made do in true guiding style.
On Tuesday we visited Brussels in the morning for a whistle stop tour before heading to Sanctuary Hill. The guides enjoyed exploring the trenches and looking at all the artifacts on view. They also decided to place crosses in the Sanctuary Hill cemetery in remembrance for the soliders. From there it was off to Ypres and the Menin Gate ceremony where Ferndown district guides layed a wreath to commemorate those who fell in the war. This ceremony was made extra special by the beautiful male voice quartet who sang throughout the wreath laying.
