Yesterday was a long day and one that won’t be forgotten by 43rd Northampton Scouts.

The day began with a moving visit to the In Flanders Fields museum. Wearing our own personal poppy bracelets, we discovered the stories of The Great War, studying historical objects and images.

The museum was followed by some free time in which a visit to a chocolate shop was a necessity! Here, the scouts filled up their bags with goodies and even managed to grab some freebies!

In the afternoon, we visited Hill 62 and the trenches, exploring what life would have been like. It was a bit muddy in the trenches and some of us got a bit muddy too!

We also stopped off at Tyne Cot Cemetery, to place a small cross of remembrance on the graves of so many that lost their lives.

Finally, we headed to the Menin Gate to watch the Last Post Ceremony. The scouts laid a wreath during the poignant service. A big well done to Finn who held the Scout flag throughout the service, in front of so many people!
