One wet but still very happy camp!
One wet but still very happy camp!

Here in a slightly damp Belgium, we are having loads of fun. Today has been 1st Warley’s first full day at De Kluis, they have settled in and starting to get to know Scouts from Holland and Belgium, so much so that we had a football match this evening. English Scouts vs. Belgian Scouts. It was all fun and games, with around 80 players on the pitch… it was mayhem to watch but they really enjoyed it. Sadly we lost 4-0, however the Scouts are already arranging a re-match, potentially a cricket match and maybe rugby. They think they might have better chances with those sports! Nevertheless, everybody joined in, played fair, there were no language barriers and it was really lovely to watch. The goal posts for this game were even made today, as the Scouts spent the afternoon pioneering and therefore lashed the frames together ahead of tonight’s match! ¬†This evening, they even had a BBQ in the rain to cook their sausages for dinner. Tomorrow, we are going to Ypres for a jam packed day!

In other news, we have called upon an expert Scout Leader who has named the tree which stands in the camp site, a sweet chestnut tree! Mystery solved.
