Wow, so what a brilliant start we have had with the RGS Explorers! After getting settled in to our campsite, the first adventure was to the Jungfraujoch, ‘The Top Of Europe’, and what a perfect day for it. After enjoying the views from 3571m above sea level, we made our way through the Ice Grotto and to the outdoor area where many snowballs were thrown. On our way down, we trekked from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald, following the famous Eiger trail. A fantastic day had by all!

Next up was a more relaxed day, with the official flag break and welcome to KISC. All of the Explorers and leaders got well involved with the games, meeting new people from all around the world! An afternoon of zip lining and mini golf was well earned, and a good meal at the international barbecue helped us to prepare for our 2-day hike.

The hike began in the afternoon after a cable car journey from Kandersteg to Almenalp, taking us up to 1725m. We then trekked through some stunning scenery to the Ueschinenhutte with our brilliant Pinky guides. We had a delicious dinner and enjoyed a good campfire watching the predicted storms approach. On our return journey we walked from above the cloud line dropping in to a much wetter atmosphere – a true Swiss experience!

It has been an action packed few days for the RGS Explorers with plenty more to come.
