Time to don our green outfits and come together to celebrate the end of an eventful Venture Abroad Trefoil AM weekend. Whispers were already making their way around our hotel (for some there would be green sequins in abundance). With many a comment on our shamrock face paints “did you do that yourself? It’s wonderful…” How nice would it have been to say it was the work of my own artistic hand, rather than the professional face painter at the Giants Causeway!
After collecting all ladies from their respective hotels it was time to take our seats for the much anticipated night of entertainment planned by Charlotte and the Venture Abroad team. Our compere for the evening quickly assumed the role he has come so accustomed to. “Hello Norman” came the calls from the floor. Norman quite clearly has a place in many a ladies heart at this event. Could it be the jokes? The black evening suit or just his charm and long friendships within the Trefoil Guild that have earned him this fame? Whatever the reasons, as always he made the evening fell quite special. The entertainment that followed was a joy; Irish dancers, a singer and his guitar and then the duet. Charlotte was sure she had booked a solo singer, but your very own Marguerite Wimborne was determined to make this into a soloist and dancing “combo!” WOW that lady can most certainly move. The splits were the icing on the cake – I’m 39 and can’t even “go that low!” The night had been a success with everyone extremely happy that they had enjoyed an apt evening of celebration to mark the end of their 2015 Trefoil AM weekend. To bring the evening to a close Pat Downer took to the stage to say a few words. Firstly was the news that donations received at the Annual Meeting, collected in aid of Nepal had reached the fantastic sum of £2800! A heart-warming amount of money that will most certainly go a long way in helping the efforts of volunteers who are out there right now. It was most appreciated that Pat then went on to thank the Venture Abroad team for doing such a sterling job of organising their travel arrangements. For many sat in the auditorium this would be their one holiday of the year; by doing this with Venture Abroad it gave each and every one of them the re-assurance that their travel arrangements were in very safe hands.
I have to say it has been great for me to witness personally the relationship that the girls of VA share with each and every one of you. It is quite apparent that over the years they have continued to create well ran itineraries on your behalf, which have in turn helped create many happy memories for you all. Another year under yours and our belts there’s only one thing to do and that’s look forward to the next! Keep your eye on our website for the photo gallery I’ve promised you all (due to go live on Wednesday 10th June) along with video footage of our Venture Abroad evening entertainment! For me it has been an absolute privilege to share this weekend with you all and like many of you – I already have my name down for next year! Safe journeys home to all! (Images will be added to accompany this blog post tomorrow ladies – airport wi-fi is not making it the easiest task!)
