The end of the week is nearing for both Hydra and Rutland Explorers. Yesterday saw a long but fascinating journey to Ypres.
First stop for both groups was to the In Flanders Fields museum, a museum that presents the story of the First World War. After the museum and a spot of lunch, the scouts had a little free time to explore Ypres and to buy out the shops of their Belgian chocolate!

It was back on the coach, and after a little detour, we stopped off at Tyne Cot Cemetery. This was followed by Sanctuary Wood museum and a chance to walk in the trenches there.

Finally, after a spot of dinner, both groups dressed in their uniforms and headed to the Menin Gate to take part in the Last Post ceremony. Both groups laid wreaths and also had to opportunity to parade through to conclude the ceremony. Well done to all that took part in the ceremony. You did us proud!
