On Monday, the Cranleigh Scouts visited Amsterdam. Even with one broken legged leader, we were able to navigate the streets to discover a canal-side park, Dutch market and, for some, a very traditional Mcdonalds! We visited the Dutch Resistance museum which gave us a tour of the Jewish area of Amsterdam, teaching us about the lives of ordinary people during the Dutch occupation. It was a good experience to understand the people whose lives changed dramatically in such a short space of time and visit memorials to pay our respects. It was an important day for some as Scouts and leaders alike became enrolled and such a lovely city to make their promise!
