Scotland has definitely reached Switzerland! Friday just gone, I had the pleasure of meeting the Upper Nithsdale Guides! Vibrant and enthusiastic, both the leaders and the girls settled into their new home for the next ten days! Four days have passed and they have been up to all sorts! They have explored the wonders of Kandersteg village, including the swimming pool and the shops, as well as visited one of the best known mountain lakes in Switzerland – Blausee! Which, as legend would have it, is the same colour of a beautiful young lady who died of a broken heart – but this nor the rain on Sunday seems to have put off the spirits of the Dumfrieshire guides!

Yesterday was a very busy day! We visited the woodcarvers’ workshop in Adelboden, after which the girls and the leaders went shopping in Adelboden village (well, as much as they could! A few shops had closed for their lunchtimes – we all get hungry!) Then we took a venture up to Our Chalet, where the view was spectacular!

After dinner (and quite a long day) the guides visited KISC – the International Scout Centre in Kandersteg and took part in their International evening where they met people from all over the world! We met people from Mexico, America, Australia, Spain as well as… dun dun dun… Scotland! Glasgow in fact!

With lots more planned for this week, such as a visit to Grindelwald and Trummelbach falls, Interlaken, and the historical town of Thun, I think that I may have lots of stories to tell!
