Day 4: We woke up to rain and low cloud, but this didn’t dampen our spirits. The view of the low cloud over the valley was very picturesque. We hiked our way to the bus stop to catch a bus to the train station to take us to Kandersteg. From here we got a bus to the International Scout Centre. At the centre we had a tour of the chalets and a talk about why the International Centre was placed in Switzerland. We also found out that the first country after England to have scouting was Chilli.
After this we had an awards ceremony in the grounds of the Centre where Harry T, Oliver S & Ben P received their Chief Scout Silver award. Luke W, Cameron S, Anthony D & Kaiser C all received their Chief Scout Gold Award. A very well done to them all! After this and a few photo’s we had a walk around the campsite and sung a few songs at the campfire circle. Along the way we met some scouts from Portugal.
Once completing our time at the centre we walked back into Kandersteg and had a look round the local shops before heading to the cable car to take us up to Oeschinensee. On the cable car we got to see the amazing valley that Kandersteg is set in, and the mountains surrounding it. Once at the top we all got to ride on the Toboggan Run, which was brilliant fun. (We could be the next English Bob sledge team). After this we took a walk to the Oeschinensee Lake. To keep the tradition of 3rd Staines that Colin G started when he brought his scouts to Switzerland we took a dip in the mountain glacier lake just like they did on their adventures here.
Once warmed up after our dip we headed back to the Chalet, where we are looking forward to a nice dinner and movie night. Then to have a goodnights sleep ready for day 5 of our Switzerland adventure.
Over and out for now
