Apologies for not keeping you up-to-date with the goings on in Adelboden- there seem to have been so many I haven’t had a chance to sit down and write about them!
After their arrivals on Saturday 1st Viewpark Boys’ Brigade and Wolds Division Guides had a relaxing day on Sunday- the girls hiked all the way to the Engstligen Alp, almost avoiding the first thunderstorm out of four in 24 hours, and the boys went swimming, took part in the Zumba class at the pool and tried their hand at bowling.
On Monday, the Wolds Guides had another relaxed day at The WAGGGS World Centre Our Chalet, taking part in the birthday celebreations, whilst the boys set off for Interlaken via Spiez, incorporating a boat trip into the journey. After time for shopping in Interlaken, the chocolate show caused a storm, and then the group went off on their monster scooter activity. I was too much of a chicken to join in, but they had a great time and saw some spectacular views whilst descending a mountain near Interlaken.
Tuesday was the Swiss National Holiday, so the girls visited KISC in Kandersteg for the celebration carneval, after they had enjoyed the toboggans at Oeschinnensee and a picnic by the gorgeous like. The Boys Brigade had a leisurely day before performing at the celebrations in Adelboden and taking part in the parade. The locals seemed very impressed with the Tunnock’s teacakes the boys had brought with them.
Today the Boys Brigade took on four cable cars to reach the top of the Schilthorn, where the views were stunning, and they had plenty of time to explore Bond World. The Guides set off for Oberhofen castle, which they seemed to enjoy exploring, and then set off on the boat for Interlaken, where they indulged in some retail therapy before the chocolate show.
Phew! I’m exhausted just writing about it, I promise to keep you all more up to date in the next few days.
