An important part of Scouting is service to others. The staff at KISC are an important reminder of this duty; the vast majority are non salaried.
On Tuesday, we all gave some time and effort to the Centre by undertaking a service project to support the work of the staff. We assembled at the campsite and were told that our project was to take down a very large marquee just outside the Chalet. We emptied it of tables, dismantling them before tackling the main structure. We were very relieved that we had one engineer and one builder in our leadership team!
The Scouts and Explorers planned our afternoon in the village. A trip to the penknife shop was a priority followed by the supermarket, swimming pool and mini golf! Then it was back to KISC on the village bus (free if you’re wearing your Scout necker) for a tasty evening meal of beef stew and potato wedges.
