The 2013 Trefoil Guild Annual Meeting marked our 17th consecutive year of offering weekend packages for members of the Trefoil Guild and we are pleased to say that it went off without a hitch. The sun shone for almost the entire weekend keeping everybody in high spirits and, more importantly, dry as they explored the wonderful city, met up with old friends, made some new ones and attended the annual meeting at The Royal Concert Hall.

As we settle back in to life at the office I thought I would take five minutes to update you on some of our team’s highlights of the weekend:

“The sunshine was definitely a highlight!”

“Seeing so many of our Trefoil friends that have travelled with Venture Abroad for many years.”

“Listening to the members tell stories of past travels with Venture Abroad.”

“Singing “Edelweiss” in the hotel reception of Novotel with a big group of members.”

“Seeing Julie Bentley (Chief Executive) and Gill Slocombe (Chief Guide) enjoying the Annual Meeting”

“Seeing everyone join hands and sing Auld Lang Syne at Venture Abroad’s Sunday evening entertainment.“

“Margaret Routley, National Chairman, giving a nice speech at our evening entertainment to thank us and all the Trefoil volunteers from the Scottish Region for making the weekend such as success. What a lovely gesture!”

“The Sunday trip to New Lanark was lovely and it was a bonus to be able to walk to the Falls of Clyde and to see some of the Scottish Countryside with an ice cream in-hand.”

“Our entire team performing with their ukuleles as the Trefoil Guild ladies sang along.”

After over a year of build-up there’s always a mixture of relief and sadness to see another successful Annual Meeting weekend behind us. As they say, no rest for the wicked though, as the brand new Trefoil Guild brochure for 2014 is arriving with members at the end of the month. Those traveling to Glasgow with us have got their very own “preview” copy of the brochure 2 weeks before everybody else!

The 2014 Annual Meeting weekend in Cheltenham Spa will be here before we know it so it’s important to book early – we already took on booking from an eager member in Glasgow!

A final thank you to all who traveled with us to Glasgow and we look forward to helping you travel with other Trefoil Guild members again in 2014.
