After a week of getting to know the local area and set up I was very excited to welcome my first two groups of the season on Saturday afternoon! After a long coach journey to reach sunny Buitenzorg they quickly got settled into their new homes for the week with excitement in the air!
The 1st Burnham and Hitcham Scouts have been enjoying some of the camp activities like clog painting and photo hikes! The clogs were a favourite and we even ended up with a ‘Travelling Clog’ that is coming on all of the day trips! They got the train to Amsterdam on Monday, spending their morning in the Anne Frank Museum and afternoon on a cruise through the many canals of the city!
The 1st Westlands Guides started their week off with mini golf and a swim at the local outdoor pool. Perfect for the hottest day of the week with temperatures reaching 30 degrees! In the traditional Dutch manner, they hired bikes the next day and explored Baarn and the surrounding area, taking advantage of the miles and miles of cycle track!
On Tuesday both groups hopped on the coach together to reach De Efteling Theme Park – a day full of adrenaline and roller coasters! The groups were buzzing about this one when they got back, a definite favourite!
Both groups are loving the Netherlands and looking forward to the rest of the activities for the week!
