Evening all, so day two began with a nice early wake up of 7am with all 44 leaving the chalet by 8:00pm to venture on our 14 miles worth of hiking to reach our activity locations. We split into two groups today half completing the wood carving workshop in the morning each collecting an engraved woggle, then completing the adventure course in the afternoon and vice versa.
The woodcarver experience allowed the Scouts to see fantastic engravings with a variety of woods, which was followed by a walk through a gorge and climbing 80 metres of fencing that wound around the gorge. The hike around the edge of Adelboden allowed all Scouts to see a picturesque view of the village and even snow on the mountains.
The adventure course at Reharti was an adrenalin rush of an experience. Scouts ‘zip wired’ down 4 zip wires, each climbing higher throughout the course. A high rope course that crossed the river at 25 metres above ground and then free-fall abseil from a bridge 30m above the river. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all… then four Scouters took this one step further and completed the Pendulum Swing (30 metre bungee swing). This was a nice step over the bridge and then when the heart stopped pounding a jump backwards. Well done to James Ayling, Chris Moore, Lucy Burgess and Harry Thatcher for such an exciting viewing experience.
The evening then ended with a traditional evening in a local Swiss Hotel, where Scouts experiences local foods such as Fondue Cheese and listed to traditional Swiss Music played on the Swiss Horns.
Now your be pleased to know all Scouts are queuing up for the shower (quietly and peacefully!!) ready for a nice nights sleep.
Tomorrow’s early start will lead to a day of White Water Rafting…. Cant wait!!
Check out Facebook for a number of Photos. Enjoy….
