Hello there, Emily S here! After waking up to see the most gorgeous sunrise over the mountains behind the Chalet that we are staying in, today’s excursion brought us to Our Chalet, Adelboden. While it wasn’t a lengthy journey (thankfully, given the day we had yesterday), it was possibly the one with the most significance to us as Girl Guides. We were greeted by our friendly tour guide, who gave us a presentation on the history of Our Chalet and the amazing work of Mrs Helen Storrow and Ida Von Herrenschwand, AKA Falk. The talk ended with everyone singing the Our Chalet song.
Afterwards, we were taken on a tour of the communal areas of the Main Chalet, where we got a a chance to swap badges and sign the big guest book, and the Spycher Chalet. We were then free to roam around the site and took the obligatory group picture on the steps of the chalet.
The afternoon was spent at leisure. Some of the girls went back to the Chalet to relax before our Swiss evening and a small group went into Adelboden town centre for some souvenir shopping.
In the evening we had the opportunity to experience a “Swiss evening” which included cheese fondue with bread, chips and salad and it was delicious! We were entertained by 3 musicians playing the Alpine horn; they were amazing and even let us try playing it ourselves!
