Bleary eyed for yet another early start… (we don’t have time for sleep – too much to do) … we set off for our trip to Interlaken. Another day of multi-transport starting with the bus, then a train, then a boat and then a long walk up a hill to St Beatus Caves.
The boat trip was wonderful, over the turquoise blue lake, with chocolate to give us energy for the super steep walk up to the caves.
Whilst the girls recovered, the leaders amused themselves on the playpark.
The caves were fascinating, especially the mirrored grottos and raging waterfalls. It was hard to believe that we were so far inside the mountain; we seemed to walk for hours down tunnels and through caverns and just when we thought we were near the end… we had to turn around and walk back again!
Once back in the sunshine, we caught a bus to Interlaken for some shopping therapy before heading for the chocolate show. We were unsure which was more tasty, the chocolate or the chocolatier Ludwig!
As a special treat, we visited the patisserie for some delicacies which were delicately handled all the way home – on pain of washing up for the rest of the week for anyone who dropped them!
For the first time this week, the weather was glorious when we arrived back at the chalet, so the Guides played table tennis, volleyball and boules outside. We topped the day off with hot chocolate and biscuits then to bed…
