Second to last blog now! I will blog when we reach England safely tomorrow so keep a look out.
Heather and Caroline here. We made it to Menin gate in enough for the ceremony which we took part in and laid a wreath. It was a very moving ceremony
This morning was a slow start as we stayed on the camp site. We did some tree climbing everyone attempted at least one tree which is excellent! We followed this with some BMXing around the woods of the campsite which did result in 1 muddy guide and one scratched leader who fell in a bush! But everyone is safe and well.
We then rushed into Leuven for one last trip to hear the girls all time favourite Heverlee train stop! We went for a swim in the pool followed by last minute shopping for presents! Woops!
Around the city there are celebrations commemorating WW1 including bill boards on every street corner showing the desecration of each street during the war. It is quite amazing to compare the difference of the city then and now and marvel at how it has been restored.
We then joined the scouts for a campfire! Some of the girls found it completely different to their normal idea of a campfire as it involved lots of shouting. It was brought to a abrupt end when the heavens opened and drenched us all! Hot chocolate soon sorted this.
Now time for bed as we have a early start to pack up, clean up and head home.
See you all tomorrow
