Caroline and Heather here! 4th day in now thought we had better explain to you what’s been going on! Sorry we haven’t blogged earlier wi-fi is hard to come by down here.
The day we arrived we went for the all important shop and settled into our homes for the week. Everyone was tired so we had a lazy afternoon, playing games and some crafts.
Sunday we got up bright and early and went swimming, bowling and to the scout museum. The girls all had a great time in the pool and are desperate to go again! There was a lot of walking involved so we had some very tired girls but we got to explore the lovely city of Leuven, we saw fascinating photos of all the streets in Leuven against the back drop of the streets now to show the desecration of the city which was first hit in Belgium in WW1. We then played some more games in the evening.
Monday we went to Brugge, it was a beautiful city which we got to see most of as it is very small. The girls had a little shopping time which they enjoyed despite the rain. We also went to the choco story museum which was fascinating and of course the girls favourite part was the chocolate sampling. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, not just about chocolate but many other things and he gave us some interesting facts about the British and Belgique soldiers in WW1 he also very kindly showed us a hidden part of Brugge. The weather brightened up as we we’re in the museum so we stayed for a bit more shopping time and went out for Pizza for tea.
Today (Tuesday) we went to Brussels and had a interesting ride on a open topped tour bus followed by a quick stop to get waffles. We then headed over to the Atomium which was amazing to see and worth the visit. We went into mini Europe which all the girls really enjoyed. We then returned home for curry and more waffles for dessert! All the girls are having a great time and have settled in well. They all get on with each other however they are all beginning to feel the constant walking! But they are all still smiling ready for another busy day tomorrow.
That’s it from us
