Lake Como - ISGF World Conference

*Prices are per paying passenger based on 2 people sharing a twin room and a minimum of 30 paying passengers. A single room supplement of £115 will apply to the post tour.

The truly beautiful Lake Como will provide a picturesque backdrop for the 2011 ISGF European Conference. A jewel in the crown of Italy’s famous lakes, Lake Como is a haven of tranquillity and natural splendour. Venture Abroad once again will be providing pre and post conference tours where you can further explore the delights of this stunning region across the nearby northern border in Switzerland, or further east in the delightful and scenic region of Lake Garda.
Pre Tour - Discover Adelboden
Venture Abroad is very pleased to be arranging a tour to one of the most popular destinations for the Trefoil Guild, to Adelboden in Switzerland. Since Lake Como is so close to the Swiss border, we just couldn’t resist organising another visit to the village treasured by all members of the guiding movement. A perfect destination for the pre ISGF tour.
Pre Tour Itinerary
Tuesday 20th September
Depart the UK with a flight from London to Geneva Airport. Once in Geneva a coach transfer will be arranged to take you to Our Chalet in Adelboden.
Wednesday 21st September
A truly unique excursion that will take you to the Top of Europe! Enjoy a round-trip by cogwheel railway, which takes you first to Kleine Scheidegg, which is located at the foot of the notorious Eiger North Wall at an altitude of 2061 metres. The journey terminates at the Jungfraujoch at an altitude of 3475 metres. Once at the summit, you can see the peaks of the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany.
Thursday 22nd September
Full day programme at ‘Our Chalet’.
Friday 23rd September
Not many cities have managed to retain their historic features quite as successfully as Bern, the capital of Switzerland. The medieval air of this city with its many fountains, sandstone facades, narrow streets and historic towers is unique.
Saturday 24th September
Day at leisure in Adleboden
Sunday 25th September
An early morning start as we are transferred by coach to Lake Como for the start of the ISGF World Conference. The journey will take approximately 4.5 hours and covers 160 miles.

Venice & Verona
After a busy week in Lake Como it’s time to relax and enjoy just some of the highlights that this area has to o er by combining time to enjoy the scenery of Lake Garda as well as two of the Italy’s famous cities, Venice & Verona.

Sunday 2nd October
Coach Travel from Lake Como to the Lakeside Hotel in Lake Garda.
Monday 3rd October
A wonderful chance to discover Bardolino, which is well known for its excellent red wines and annual grape festival. It is a pleasure to stroll around and offers plenty of outdoor living and shopping for visitors. The views of the lake from Bardolino are beautiful and walking along the lakeside promenade is especially popular.
Tuesday 4th October
Day trip to Verona. Just 40 km from Bardolino is one of Italy’s oldest cities, Verona. The beautiful Piazza Bra is the hub of the city, but it is compact enough to get around on foot and much of it is pedestrianised. It is also the fictitious home of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and you can take a walk to the famous balcony that is visited by starcrossed lovers all over the world.
Wednesday 5th October
Lasize is said to be one of the best kept secrets of Lake Garda. It is a medieval walled town and, once inside, you find yourself in a myriad of pretty, cobbled and winding streets lined with small boutique shops and cafés.
Thursday 6th October
Venice is a truly beautiful city and is easy to navigate on foot but, if you really want to see it in style, take a Gondola. You can take a waterbus from Piazzale Roma to St Marks Square and take in all that it has to offer whilst sitting in one of the many cafés.
Friday 7th October
Today a coach will return the group to Milan for the flight back to London.

Our Chalet
Where else could you stay in Adelboden apart from the WAGGGS World Centre, Our Chalet. There are a small number of twin rooms, but the majority of passengers will be accommodated in multi-bedded rooms. Our Chalet is nestled in the mountains and has wonderful panoramic views of the Swiss Alps.
Post Tour Accommodation
Parc Hotel Gritti
This outstanding 4-star lakeside hotel is surrounded by beautiful grounds and gardens and is just a short walk to the old centre of Bardolino. All bedrooms have a telephone, mini bar, satellite TV and hairdryer. There is a large outdoor swimming pool with a sun terrace, sun beds and pool bar. There is also an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre.
